If we do not treat this new immigration policy with sincere care we could have a disaster on our hands! We can learn from Germany. Germany has an open-door immigration policy. In 2015 they took in 1% of their population in refugees mainly from Syria and Iraq. "German officials say they are prepared to accept as many as 800,000 asylum seekers this year, a number equal to 1% of the population." Finding adequate shelter for the immigrants is a problem. We need low-income housing! And low-income housing should have lower incomes than $60,000 a year! A teacher's average salary in Washington State is $54,000 a year--below what we call low-income housing!
With an open-door immigration policy you don't know who you are letting into the country! It could be a criminal or a terrorist. In a sense, with open-door policy they get a new start but at who's cost? What happens when they start committing crimes on U.S. soil? And when crimes do happen we can not judge a population on an individual's actions!
Refugees have been abused in their homeland and now they come to a country with open arms where not all accept them! Germany reports this makes some refugees react negatively. We need to listen to their needs and make it capable for them to provide for themselves--that's dignity!
In Germany, there are slums and crime derived from an open-door policy without adequate infrastructure. Are we taking in too many too fast? Where are our refugees going to live and work? How are they going to feed themselves?
