When I was a child I visited the Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve in Idaho. I have since revisited. It is acreage of lava beds frozen in time. As the volcano moved across the landscape and under ground it left surface evidence of eruptions; and Craters of the Moon is such a place. The super volcano now resides at Yellowstone National Park with erupting geysers and other worldly landscapes equally intriguing! Craters of the Moon was where the government tested equipment destined for use on Mars.
