I have had a love relationship with Starbuck's Coffee Company. I worked there in college in the time of drip coffee, Tiazzi's and the old hearty pastries. Now Starbuck's is primarily known for its Frappuccino's and latte's. It's a little white bread for me. The pastries are made of highly refined flour and their blender is way too busy. I cannot order a decaf coffee without the excuses we don't have decaf coffee brewed--you can buy a decaf Americano or wait for a decaf pour over. I typically opt for the pour over however my patience has run thin! I am tired of lack of consistency and the annoyance of everybody involved when I order a once staple at the neighborhood coffee shop! It's not a staple anymore. You used to be able to by beans by bulk at Starbuck's and even mix your own blend; since then it has become harder to even see their bagged beans offered on their merchandise wall. But who would buy beans at Starbuck's when you can find their beans at the grocery store for less money? Offered in 2 lb., 1lb., and 1/2 lb. bags at the grocery while at Starbuck's locations it is only offered in 1 lb. bags! Their merchandise is a total disappointment. They used to sell coffee makers, espresso machines, all the gadgets to go along and even music CDs of World Music (possibly offering a new ear to music from lands of coffee growers!) and in addition their designs for mugs and such lack that spark! What ever happened to the thermos? Whatever happened to the French Press? I am looking for a new love relationship with a coffee house!
