I propose that eating spoiled food not only leads to food poisoning but also lupus (an autoimmune disease). Who knows what types of bacteria grow on expired preparations that naively get consumed by an unsuspecting person! I have a friend with lupus and I know she has consumed spoiled food, hence my hypothesis!
Food preparation knowledge is a problem. Unless you go work for a food company whether it is meat packing or in a restaurant; you don't get the education on how to prepare different meats and cooling temperatures and procedures. I think everyone should take the time to investigate knowledge gained from getting a food handler's permit and/or learn it in Home Economics classes in high school! For instance, your home temperature is ripe for bacteria growth (this Danger Zone range is from 41 to 135 degrees Fahrenheit)! Don't leave the food out! Let it cool after cooking and then store in the refrigerator!
