Hard To Watch...

Ben is Back is a 2018 movie and hard to watch. It is about addiction and a blended family. A white mother strives to help her white son, Ben, in an effort to reclaim their family dog as Ben's past catches up with him. The step-father is black and states a black person in Ben's shoes would have been in jail by now as the family tries to keep the police out of the picture (and the step-father took a second mortgage out on the house to pay for rehabilitation for Ben to no avail). There are younger mixed siblings as well.
I sat through the movie with a horrible uncomfortable feeling, a wrenching gut and I couldn't finish it! It gives a perspective into the harsh reality we face since pain killers have entered the market. I can only imagine how many of the homeless people we see have something in common with this movie! Pain killers need to be taken off the market (you won't die from pain and your endorphins will kick in! but the harsh reality is you most likely will lose your life to opioids! all for the temporary relief of an ailment.) Drug companies need to pay for their deceit in selling their product as harmless and non-addictive when in fact it is the opposite! The government needs to quit supporting addiction.
